No Time To Get It Wrong

Bible verse of the day is Romans 13:8.

Wherein Rob cites the wrong number for the verse he reads, and wonders if NPR/OPB isn’t more interesting, and shares that he’s now a supporting member and speculates the day will never come where RRR has a pledge drive (ha), and passes on their original reporting that houses are being built larger so more people can live in them, and speaks of car maintenance, and observes there’s a lot of action on my wall, and laments how expensive it is to keep a car on the road, and the difficulty of finding a great mechanic, and the idiot light and what it means, and the next thing that must be done, and references The Musician, and includes Waitin’ For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago by ZZ Top, and welcomes The Teacher back from vacation, and relates the setback to the Bering Sea crab fleet and what it means to Christmas in Japan, and states the government shutdown has had no discernible effect to my life, and how weird it is to consider reality show stars as friends, and alludes to a tradition in Mexico of having a lot of friends, and notices there’s a lot of The Man in this episode, and missing the a vlog, and my secret new domain name, and being responsible for everything I say always considering _you_ and how you’ll like what I post, and touches on an idea for the sister episode (which was forgotten, pretty sure, can’t even say this morning what the great thing was grr), and asks if you’ve had any close calls, and wishes there was some feedback to respond to.

No Time To Get It Wrong

[What’s up with the RIAA? I’m finding all kinds of good music on YouTube that should be taken down, would have been the last time I looked awhile ago… anyway enjoy the samples!]

TPIDNTY: Everyone Would Do It

Wherein Rob explains why it’s not easy (and thus the title of this one makes sense?), and shares a clear understanding that I should not stand in the middle, explains a little about the situation and trying to help Krazy Cross get his album Rest Stop Songs into more people’s hands, and teases a video I can’t publish just now, asks for your prayer about this, and demonstrates another thing that’s harder than it should be (so out of practice, but I’ll be smoother next time I hope).

Music is Cleansed by Jeff Silverman, used with permission.

No Time At All

Bible verse of the day is Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

Wherein Rob is rusty but presses on anyway and references what you’re not hearing in today’s ep and wants to try to include some slow baked BBQ but instead eats a donut and tries to not talk with his mouth full too much, and razzes KMarie about NZ breakfast choices, and celebrates getting the basket home and the eggs carefully unpacked, then explains why he’s running behind, and laments the lost thermos still missing, and wonders how _you_ are doing, and explains a little about why he’s getting up early lately, which has no stink of desperation, and explains one key aspect of making a message mean something to somebody, and shout out to you as I wonder how you’re doing, and then goes on to talk about great pictures (almost typed gray pictures, check it out), and references stock art, and adds The Builder to the list of people possibly listening to my little show, and almost doesn’t remember what was happening with the stream of consciousness soliloquy from minute to minute, and references the very early days of podcasting, then takes a brief stop (which BTW featured an excellent, well-timed phone call), and then records the second half with remarkably more road noise (makes sense given the greatly increased speed, the first part was county highway 55 and the second freeway closer to 70) and states the government shutdown has ended [but it hasn’t] and then fails in abject fashion with a quote I should have pulled over and written down (thanks Beavis) and laments the sad state of my current tech.

[How have I never chosen Eph 3:20 before, hard to Imagine!!]

Music is “Bingo in the Country” by Happy Elf published by WM Recordings [My how things change!! gotta get back to fma.org whoot!]

[Double MP3 compression FTL, the music sounds bloody awful, I don’t know why I didn’t look a bit harder for the good soundtracks, they are _right here_ but too late]

Out of My Groove

Bible verse of the day (from The Message) is Proverbs 8:5

Wherein rob begins by explaining why the road noise is SO greatly reduced in this ep, and then starts repeating himself on topics covered in the previous episode, like what’s on his utility belt and extolling the virtues of the Studio P upgrade to the Kenwood KDC-X596,  and the music of the podcast: Johnnie Lawson‘s excellent recording of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – Winter – Gentle Falling Snow from Relax Emotional Classical Instrumental Music (look it the adjectives) and a makes mention of Forest House Rock Camp (look it the nouns, and shout out to The Camper LOL I can’t think of a better handle tonite, so tired) and then a discussion of gigabytes, megabytes, kilobytes, bytes, bits, and even terabytes and petabytes and larger [the page we were looking at didn’t have brontobytes listed, nice] and right into Moore’s Law and a mention of quantum computing and how SSL works [that page says a trillion years, wow] and smaller and smaller not-quantum computing and heat, and the upcoming election and one of the most important issues to consider, and getting freaked out about the economic future of the US, and paying off the national debt in dollars worth a lot less then the are today… and then right into TPIDNTY: the project is on, soon we’ll be on a mission from God! and divine intervention needed at work and needing wisdom.

[Huh some dropouts and a little static but on the whole, I’m remembering why I liked doing this the hard way… I hope you enjoy]

Big Leapfrogging Mess

Bible verse of the day is Esther 4:16

Starts with a shout out to The Vegan, and a discussion of the Studio P upgrade,  and lamenting about leapfrogging episodes (recording one while another’s in the oven) and no time for post-production or games and feeling loaded up but not oversubscribed like The Padre gets sometimes, who is certainly loaded up right now yet has time to send me emails and occasionally visits so that’s cool, and then on to my cell phone upgrade part one, and a discussion of BlackBerry and iPhone and how I started carrying iOS right after it was released, and discussion of my Motorola Razor RIP (or good luck to whoever found it), and work-life balance and good smartphones enabling 24×7 productivity and the lack thereof without a touch-screen, and then discussion of upgrade part two, getting on the Galaxy sIII and a mention of the billion dollar judgement, and KMarie on the very phone I was targeting, and then extolling the virtues of Pandora and iPod integration and all the other goodness of my new stereo including HDRadio and OEM wired remote controls to the steering wheel buttons, and then the first presidential debate and a shout out to Beavis and assurance that my vote does not count, but KMarie’s might so tell us KMarie who you are voting for, tell us! and then I stopped to get her comments and had a rare car incident NOT especially related to RRR but still not good, and a mention of OS X Time Machine, and the best idea I ever had and haven’t done anything with, and feedback from KMarie’s comments on a recent episode which I’m not typing up here but instead you’ll just have to listen to (sorry no time and this document already crazy long but here’s one good link about Kim Dot Com), and revealing what brought me to upgrade Sudio P’s sound system — heater core replacement and a brief mention of how I came to own Pauline the Passat, and more hype-is-real about HDRadio, and then right into TPIDTY and what I won’t tell you just yet, but instead talking about the “reboot” at my church, and teaching Sunday School, and that’s it.

[Good grief I knew I got backed up with stuff… but didn’t get this mixed and published yet? Fixing that today and we go from here. As near as I can tell I recorded this on or around 10/3, got it on my computer 10/11 and am only now pulling the trigger 9 days after that, UGH]

Before the Upgrade

Bible verse of the day is 2 Chronicles 7:14

Starts with special guest DenMaster aka B0n3b0y (well, AKBM Also Known By Me, we chose his handle early but it didn’t stick) reading the verse of the day, an oblique reference to the new roof we were putting on (which turned out GREAT) and helmet rules in our little town, and a time check and a reference to TLAPD and a mention of my wardrobe, and a shout out to KMarie who made a job change, and then some music which I didn’t really have permission to play — Nothing To Hold Me by Jesus Jones  — after which I explained that I “called an audible” and then include the one everyone (of a certain age) has heard  and then rambles about the good ol’ days of podcasting and shifts into talking about Android:Netrunner  and mentions the gushing I did the day I opened and saw the splendor that is the new game and then wraps it up, with a brief mention of the screwed up situation that was my technology that day, and has just improved so look forward to that, and one more shout out to KMarie while (very slowly) finishing up.

Arr Matey He Is Back

Bible verse of the day is Acts 16:3

Wherein Rob’s late to work again, but amuses himself instead of stressing out about giving evaluations and a delicate subject, and discusses the first day of school, and the importance of Labor Day (not New Year’s Day), along with loyal subscriber appreciation, followed by some discussion of “fair and balanced” or the lack thereof, and the importance (or possible unimportance) of presidential elections, and meatspace, and thoughts about public radio, and music, including a great track I heard recently (Laughing With by Regina Spektor) and mentions Shazam and iTunes (which together really make it too easy don’t they?) and then goes into a weird time-warp discussion about what I just did but hadn’t finished, LOL I recorded this over the course of the day and even captured a phone call to share, but then had to wait to mix it down (you’re soaking in show notes I developed while doing some of that nearly two weeks later), and explains why the music samples today includes sonic graffiti, and almost forgets to tell you Pauline’s stereo is busted grr, and wraps with Only Us by Peter Gabriel.

Arr Matey He Is Back

[It is Talk Like A Pirate Day so thus the title… oh and I’m not long out of bed so not creative, just getting this done finally so I can start on the next ep whoot!]

TPIDNTY: Ski Accidents

Thinking about going to the big show, and then explaining the format of TPIDTY for those who can’t remember (ha, who would have a clue after all this time? nobody?), being so rusty I forgot the word soliloquy, and controlling the weather, and where I used to live and live now, and my perspective on a fellow I almost know who got in a ski accident, and remembering how Uncle Bill left us and how God was good to me that day.

Back in the Groove

Bible verse of the day is Acts 5:11

Featuring more bootleg music (and seeing my previous episode it’s a habit oops) being enjoyed a lot lately because we’re gonna go see the band soon, whoot, and explaining I had to recover the file system so as to continue providing the audio content that rather is supposed to drive the project, ouch, and then into Obama’s initial statements addressing Parliament, along with thoughts about Acts 5 and speaking at my church, and God, and recording this ep, and my new BlackBerry, along with Imagine and Facebook, and U2 setlists, then Audacity fun (which BTW is irrelevant, 1.3.13 works fine and the task at hand is easy speedy) and getting back in the groove of producing.

Teaser

Wherein Rob fires up the podcast machine for another for another season, which begins with by explaining having too much time to sit around and work on such projects, and includes some nice car time with his loveliest talking about a song by a band best not mentioned in the show notes because he hasn’t secured permission to include such song or band (who might not care since the music was double MP3 compressed and cannot be taken seriously as anyone’s idea of a “keeper” so what the heck) and coincidentally features a mention of horses even as we passed a familiar appaloosa auto, then includes a tester recording using the iPhone earbuds microphone, and another tester with a new bluetooth headset where there’s actually some content (about Facebook and stuff), and then quits while he’s ahead?

[I’ll call it a teaser since this isn’t my normal format, mostly about just getting restarted with the publishing action 2 years later (to the day mind you)]
